How It Works

Door-to-door is the most convenient way to ship a vehicle. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you book to the moment your car arrives.

You Book & Give Us Your Addresses

Tell us the pickup and delivery addresses. We'll do a quick check to confirm carrier access before finalizing your booking — no surprises later.

Takes about 5 minutes
2

We Coordinate the Closest Possible Pickup

Our driver will come as close to your door as legally and safely possible — typically right in front of your home or property. If there's a clearance issue, we'll call ahead and find the nearest safe location together.

Driver calls 24–48 hrs before
3

Vehicle Inspected & Loaded

The driver photographs and documents your vehicle's condition, completes a Bill of Lading, and carefully loads it. You sign off and you're done.

What "Door-to-Door" Actually Means

As Close to Your Door as Safely Possible — Always.

We want to be upfront about this: "door-to-door" means our driver gets as close to your provided addresses as legally and safely permitted. In most cases, that means right in front of your home or business.

Large auto transport carriers — typically 75+ feet long — need adequate space to maneuver. In the vast majority of neighborhoods, this is never an issue. But in certain situations, the driver may need to stop a short distance away for safety reasons.

We always coordinate with you in advance so you're never caught off guard. If there's a potential issue with your street, your driver will call 24–48 hours before pickup to discuss alternatives — usually just meeting at the end of the street or a nearby parking lot.

The bottom line: 95% of our customers never experience any access issues. When we do run into a restriction, we always find a solution nearby — and we always communicate proactively. You'll never be left guessing.

When Access May Be Limited

6 Situations That Can Affect Pickup at Your Door

We're transparent about this. These situations are uncommon, but when they do come up, we always have a plan. Here's what can restrict direct access — and exactly how we handle it.

Narrow Residential Streets

Transport trucks need room to maneuver and turn around safely. Very narrow cul-de-sacs or single-lane streets may not allow a large carrier to fit.

We meet at the nearest wide street or open lot — usually just a block away.

Low-Hanging Trees & Overhead Lines

Enclosed carriers sit 13+ feet tall. Low branches, power lines, or overhead utility cables can prevent safe entry into certain driveways or roads.

A nearby clear location is always identified. Your vehicle drives or is rolled to us.

Weight Restrictions

Some residential roads, bridges, or neighborhood access roads have posted weight limits that a fully loaded transport truck legally cannot exceed.

We'll find a nearby public road without weight restrictions — usually very close.

Gated Communities

Some gated neighborhoods restrict commercial vehicle access or require advance authorization. Without access, the driver can't enter the community.

Let the gate know in advance, or meet the driver at the community entrance — takes 5 minutes.

Construction Zones

Active roadwork, closed lanes, or temporary detours around your area may block carrier access on your scheduled pickup day.

We monitor the route and contact you ahead of time to adjust the meeting point if needed.

Unsafe Loading Locations

Steep inclines, unstable ground, or high-traffic areas where stopping poses a safety risk to the driver, your vehicle, or others nearby.

Safety always comes first. We'll identify a stable, safe spot — never more than a short distance away.

We Always Call Ahead — You're Never Surprised.

Before every pickup, your assigned driver will contact you 24–48 hours in advance. If there are any access concerns with your address, we resolve them together before the day arrives. Our goal is zero surprises, start to finish.

Your Questions, Answered

Door-to-Door FAQs

What if my street is too narrow for the carrier?
No problem. If the carrier can't safely access your street, we'll meet at the nearest open location — typically the end of your street, a parking lot, or a wide intersection. Your driver will coordinate this with you before arrival. In most cases, it's just a quick short drive.
Do I need to be present at pickup and delivery?
Yes, you or a designated representative should be present to inspect the vehicle, sign the Bill of Lading, and hand over the keys at pickup — and receive them at delivery. This protects you. If you absolutely can't be there, someone with your written authorization can step in.
Is door-to-door more expensive than terminal-to-terminal?
Door-to-door is typically slightly more expensive than terminal-to-terminal because of the added convenience and the driver's time. That said, when you factor in the hassle of driving to and from a terminal — plus potential terminal storage fees — most customers find door-to-door is well worth it.
What if I live in a gated community?
Just let your community gate know in advance that a transport vehicle will be arriving on a specific date. Alternatively, meet the driver at the community entrance — it's a quick handoff and takes about 5 minutes. Let us know about gated access when you book and we'll plan around it.
How far in advance will the driver call me?
Your assigned driver will typically call 24–48 hours before the scheduled pickup to confirm timing and address details. On the day of pickup, they'll call again when they're about an hour away so you can be ready.
Can I have my car picked up from a business address?
Absolutely. We can pick up from homes, businesses, dealerships, storage facilities, auctions, or any other address. Just provide the address when booking and we'll handle the rest.
